What is Pilates?

Pilates is a method of body conditioning which combines strength, flexibility and control to lengthen as well as tone the muscles. This method known as "contrology" was developed by the founder, Joseph Pilates, back in the 1920's as a support system for injured dancers. Joseph designed all the equipment and developed this unique form of exercise known as "Pilates" and went on to teach the methods he pioneered for the next 60 years of his life.
