Social Media and Gallery Create Real-Life Connections
Hilden Hahn Creatives Hosts Downtown Los Angeles Meetup Holiday Mixer
By Craig Hahn | November 13, 2009
The best social media brings people together in the "real world" and Hilden Hahn Creatives will prove it by hosting the Downtown Los Angeles Meetup Mixer on November 19, 2009. The Gallery at Hilden Hahn will showcase world-class contemporary art from Hiroki Morinoue, Setsuko Watanabe, Tim Davis, Timothy P. Ojile, Jeera Ratanangkoon, Mark Hilden and Craig Hahn.
As an added treat, singer Michele Vreeland is scheduled to perform. Before launching her musical career, Vreeland was a hair and makeup artist for films and magazines; she is also an accomplished seamstress and painter. Vreeland said that as a visual person, it is her gift to see colors.
I can visualize something before I do it. Music and color are very tied together when Im singing a note, I hear it exactly for what it is. Also, when Im writing, Im telling a story. And visually I have told stories through editorials and fashion. Songwriting is another medium to do that, Vreeland said. Her performance will start around 7:30 p.m.
Gallery founders Mark Hilden and Craig Hahn are multimedia masters, however, they also understand the art of friendship. Like Vreeland, Hahn brings people together through an artistic medium.
"Just as the composer chooses the instrumentation of their compositions to evoke emotion from their audiences and tell a story through melody and chorus, the visual artist chooses their media and color palette to tell a story and to delight and inform the viewer about the human condition," Hahn said.
The social networking boom is merging creative talents with people taking part in Los Angeles' downtown creative renaissance. Although Hilden Hahn is new to the Downtown art scene, the gallery is quickly becoming a destination for hip Angelenos.
"I'm delighted that Hilden Hahn and the Downtown L.A. Meetup group are coming together not only to foster awareness of the local art scene but to provide a palette for creating and strengthening the community," Hahn said.
The Gallery at Hilden Hahn will host the Downtown Meetup Mixer on Thursday, Nov. 19. It begins at 5:30 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m. Complimentary wine and hors d'oevres from Los Angeles-based Caf Flourish (5406 Wilshire Blvd Miracle Mile, CA 90036, 323-939-3932) will be served.
Free and metered parking is available, and the first 50 people to arrive will receive surprise gifts.
