A genuine 50's musical, conceived in the 50’s and 50 years in the making! With a complimentary Sweets and Coffee buffet served at intermission, this family-friendly musical comedy is the coolest theatre deal in town – the genuine article, not a parody, not a spoof, but a loving tribute to those simple days of yore from those who lived them.
“MOONLIGHT MADNESS: the 50’s musical!” is 1950’s America come alive, complete with hair spray, beat poets, true love, cheerleaders and disaster at The Big Dance as teen idol Johnnie Moonlight gyrates his way into the lives of the inhabitants of William Maxwell Andrew Beaverbrook High school in Smalltown U.S.A., and into your heart and soul as well. Written and directed by the internationally acclaimed writing team of Chris DeCarlo and Evelyn Rudie (from an idea by Emery Bernauer for a 1950’s TV pilot for his daughter).
Original songs by E. Rudie with arrangements by Matthew Wrather and musical direction by Serena Dolinsky. Featuring Kim Dalton, Serena Dolinsky, Nicole Foti, Melissa Gentry, Claudia Gómez, Eli Kennedy, Kristin Levoy, Josiah Lipscomb, Chad Neace, Erin Perkins, Tyler Thomas, Kit Tyler and Katherine Washington. Choreography by Cydne Moore. Fri 8pm, Sat 7pm, Sun 6:30 – general admission $25; seniors, students, teachers and members of the military $20; groups of 8 or more $17.50; kids 15 and under $15.
Santa Monica Playhouse is located at 1211 4th Street, one block east of the Third Street Promenade.
