The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs assists faculty and staff in finding external funds for their creative and academic projects.

In addition to overseeing the proposal process, Marmion Roosa is charged with conceiving and implementing administrative protocols so that the resources awarded are used most efficiently and that their progress is reported to funders in accordance with the grant’s stipulations.

Marmion Roosa has experience as a scholar – she is already a member of the Pepperdine Family having taught a course on law and the visual arts at the Pepperdine School of Law – administrator, attorney and author.

Prior to her affiliation with Pepperdine, Marmion Roosa managed a national initiative for the American Association of Museums (AAM) in Washington D.C., the largest cultural association in the United States where she successfully worked with executive directors of AAM member museums and private and government funders to strategically identify best practices for museums-community engagement. While at AAM, she also co-authored a legal manual, The AAM Guide to Writing an Employee Handbook, to assist non-profits with human resource management.

Marmion Roosa was the Director of the Laurel Museum in Laurel, MD, where she oversaw all aspects of the highly regarded urban history museum. After moving west she served as the interim Executive Director of the Richmond Art Center in Richmond, CA.

She has also worked on special projects for the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. and The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, CA.

Marmion Roosa received her bachelor’s degree in Humanistic Studies from The Johns Hopkins University, her J.D. from Emory University School of Law and her M.A. in Art History and Museum Studies from the University of Southern California.
