Learn How to Make Yourself and Others Beautiful

Colour Box Makeup Studios Opens Enrollment for Fall Makeup Workshops. These workshops will prepare Aspiring Makeup Artists for Careers in the Film, HD Television, Bridal and Beauty Industries.

By Kent Barrett  |  September 09, 2010

Colour Box Makeup Studios founder and entertainment industry veteran Kerry Herta will conduct a five-day makeup workshop in Los Angeles Oct. 15-19, 2010.

Herta has worked on hundreds of film, television and print projects during 20 years in the industry on both coasts. Her work has been featured in numerous feature films and dozens of television and print projects. She recently oversaw the makeup department and created all new makeup designs for All My Children’s transition to HD production.

A longtime mentor of up-and-coming artists, Herta created Colour Box to provide the knowledge, products and tools that aspiring artists need to begin successful careers in the entertainment industry.

“The makeup department is among the highest paid on most production crews. The workshops will help aspiring artists compete for those jobs,” Herta said. “In addition to the latest HD and bueatu makeup techniques, these workshops help artists acquire a true understanding of the business side of being a makeup artist.

The workshops, titled HD Makeup Boot Camp I & II, cover a range of beginner- and intermediate-level topics related to film, HD television, beauty, bridal and lifestyle makeup. Specific areas of instruction include color theory, facial anatomy, character and era research, tools and techniques, men’s grooming, eyebrows, eyelashes and tattoo coverage.

Each student will practice makeup technique on live models and have their work critiqued using high-definition cameras and monitors. In addition, each student takes home industry-leading products provided by Colour Box’s corporate partners, Koh Gen Do and FACE Stockholm.

To further assist students with getting their careers started, the Boot Camps also addresses the industry’s business and occupational realities, ethics, agents and labor unions.

Upon completion of this workshop, artists are eligible for advanced level workshops and other ongoing support and assistance as they begin their careers. They also qualify to begin assisting on film and television projects.

Workshop enrollment is limited and a deposit is required.
