Global AIDS Interfaith Alliance (GAIA) Hosts a Box of a Fundraiser
Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar -- but a cigar box can be so much more thanks to artists such as Martin Puryear, Alison Saar, Joel-Peter Witkin, and the westside's own Allison Saar have created works of art out of cigar boxes which will be auctioned off to raise funds for GAIA.

In addition to the unique and creative artworks, "Art out of the Box" also boasts appearances by best-selling author Anne Lamott and emcees Jane Kaczmarek (Malcolm in the Middle, Raising the Bar) and Rainn Wilson (The Office).
Pasadena's acclaimed Bistro 45 -- 45 S Mentor Avenue -- will host the event. Attendees will enjoy a delicious array of wines and gourmet appetizers. The event will conclude with a “meet-the-need” appeal, whereby guests have the opportunity to sponsor specific items including tuition for orphans, nursing scholarships, bicycle ambulances, and sewing machines for small business enterprises.
Dr. Michael Gottlieb, who as a young doctor at UCLA helped to identify some of the first AIDS cases in 1981 is the event chair. Nobel Laureate Archbishop Desmond T
