James Reynolds, Actor and Vet to Chair Salute to Veterans
Emmy nominee and Days of our Lives star James Reynolds is set to lead VA's annual patient recognition program inviting the public to visit and honor hospitalized veterans. He serves as the national spokesperson for more than 131,000 volunteers serving veterans at VA facilities across the nation.

Reynolds was born and raised in the small farming community of Oskaloosa, Kan. He performed on stage, played football, basketball and ran track during high school. Upon graduation he joined the Marines and was sent to Hawaii, as an information service officer and then Vietnam, as a reporter. A wound ended his military service.
Reynolds has been a staple of day time television since 1981 first on "Generations" and for the past twenty-five years as Abe Carver on "Days of Our Lives" a role which has garnered him Emmy nominations and NAACP awards.
Reynolds has made several tours with the USO to visit our troops throughout the world. "I was glad to see them, to tell them how proud the folks back home were for their service. I would be back. Not to repay an old debt of another war, but to show my appreciation for America's new warriors," Reynolds has said of his past tours.
Reynolds commits substantial time to his philanthropic work on behalf of the Ronald McDonald's House and the USO. He has been to Cuba, the Mediterranean, Kuwait and Afghanistan to meet and show support for troops overseas. In 2007, Reynolds was honored by the Beverly Hills/ Hollywood NAACP Veteran Affairs and Armed Services Committee for his contributions to the Unites States Armed Forces.
