Slow Down for Julia
A somber gathering occurred early morning September 16 at the corner of Sunset and Cliffwood, site of a tragic accident that took the life of Julia Siegler last February. Police, neighbors, students and public officials gathered to remember Julia – and to suggest that it was time we all slowed down a bit.

Police officers handed out fliers to passing motorists reminding them to slow down on Sunset, especially at times when students are being picked up and dropped off.
Julia’s mother, Jody Cukier Siegler gave brief remarks, followed by comments by former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan, City Councilman Bill Rosendahl, LA Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky and police officials.
Several students including Eli Kogan, Jake Feiler and Max Thoeny, who had taken it upon themselves to keep Julia’s memory alive and keep the corner at Sunset and Cliffwood tidy (there are flowers and messages in great abundance left there regularly) were recognized for their efforts.
