Alcohol and Cancer: The Relationship
As the holiday party season kicks into gear, be careful about how much you imbibe. According to a recent Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), a part of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, review study, there is a link.

The report, "Alcohol Consumption and Cancer Risk: Understanding Possible Causal Mechanisms for Breast and Colorectal Cancers written by researchers Olu Oyesanmi, M.D., M.P.H, and David Snyder, Ph.D., of AHRQ’s ECRI Institute Evidence-based Practice Center examined a multitude of studies contained in 11 databases.
Their review found that while increased alcohol consumption was associated with an increased risk of both breast and colorectal cancers, they could not discount the influence of other factors, such as diet and lifestyle.
