Can Southern California Breath Easy? Keep Tabs via AQMD

As events at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant continue to unfold, Southern Californians will continue to worry about the amount of radiation in the air we breath. As of today, the local agency which monitors our air quality, The Southern California Air Quality Management District (AQMD) will post updates on the radiation levels its three So Cal monitoring facilities report.

For the past several years, AQMD has monitored radar in Southern California at three sites in in the region. AQMD shares this data with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) hourly. Now citizens can access the radiation readings recorded by AQMD/EPA daily at www.AQMD.gov

To learn about AQMD's other work and the other pollutants they track, please see www.cleanairconnections.org

There is another interesting site that provides real time radiation monitor data from a home based network of volunteers across the US at http://radiationnetwork.com
