Earthquake and Disaster Planning Community Meeting 10/24
By Brentwood News October 15 2011 Issue | October 17, 2011
The Brentwood neighborhood of Anita, Medio and Carmelina between Sunset and San Vicente has had a well developed community disaster plan since the 1994 Northridge earthquake. An Earthquake committee consisting of volunteer neighbors meets regularly to review its plans and supplies for communication, search and rescue, and basic medical.
The committee is hosting a community meeting at 7 p.m. on October 24th at University Synagogue, 11960 Sunset Blvd. The purpose of the meeting is to inform new residents in the neighborhood of the details of the disaster plan, recruit new committee members, answer any questions, and meet fellow neighbors/volunteers.
There will also be representatives from the police and fire department who will speak about their plan for Brentwood in the wake of a disaster, along with the director of LAFD’s Community Emergency Response Team Program. Emergency supplies will also be available for purchase.
Brentwood neighbors from other areas who are interested in organizing their own community disaster plan are welcome to attend.
