Kyle Carlson's Top Five
When last we spoke with Hollywood's homiest hunk, Kyle Carlson of OWN's "Home Take Over" he gave us tips on what we could do to improve our homes. This time, he gave us his top five home fix-it jobs to avoid on your own.

1. LIVE WIRES ARE MEANT FOR PARTIES NOT REPAIRS
Do not mess with a live electrical wire, you could seriously injure yourself. Turn off the main power (which you should've found by now thanks to our previous chat with Carlson) and call a professional electrician.
2. DON'T DIG BLIND
Before you attempt to dig a hole of any size or depth in your yard, contact your local utility company so that they can mark the gas and electric lines. Digging into one of these lines will cost you (and likely your neighbors) a lot and not just in ego strength and neighborhood reputation.
3. IT'S NEVER JUST A TRIM
Do not trim trees close to power lines; a misstep could be costly to you and your neighbors (the possibility of a power outage if you clip the line) and will likely be handled by your local utility company.

5. GOOD WALLS MAKE FOR GOOD NEIGHBORS - AND GOOD DWELLINGS
Do not attempt to remove any walls in your home without consulting a structural engineer. Before you start hacking away to 'open up your space' you need to make sure that the wall you want to remove is not a structural/weight bearing wall (one that is supporting your structure, aka keeping the house up) or 'wet wall' (a wall within which there are pipes carrying water).
