Doctor Christopher Thompson, 60, was involved in a July 4th 2008 accident on Mandeville Canyon Road when he struck and injured two bike riders. According to testimony in the case, Thompson was driving aggressively and passed dangerously close to the riders when he slammed on the brakes.
One of the riders smashed into the back window of the car driven by the doctor, breaking his front teeth, nose, and cutting his face. The other rider was thrown to the sidewalk and sustained a separated shoulder.
According to testimony from a police officer at the scene of the accident, Thompson stated to the officer he was trying to “teach the riders a lesson.” The jurors in the case convicted Thompson in November of 2009 of assault with a deadly weapon, mayhem, battery with serious injury, and reckless driving causing injury.
