FARMshop, Avondale Neighbors Reach Accord

By Jeffrey S. Hall  |  December 21, 2010

A long, intense and private negotiation held between Jim Rosenfield of the Country Mart and homeowners who live on Avondale, which backs up to the Country Mart, has been successfully concluded, according to Flora Krisiloff.
Krisiloff lives on Avondale.

52 conditions have been put into writing that FARMshop will adhere to in its daily operations. Neighbors had been particularly concerned about the issues of noise, trash pickup, traffic and parking.

Jim Rosenfield of the Country Mart has wanted FARMshop to serve as an “anchor tenant” that would draw in foot traffic that would benefit all retailers within the shopping mall. Having a beer and wine license was critical to the success of the FARMshop, said Rosenfield.

During a particularly testy time during the negotiations, Norm Kulla, senior adviser to City Councilman Bill Rosendahl, played the role of mediator, getting things back on track.

Now that the neighbors are happy, it is expected the application for the beer and wine license will go through. FARMshop is now open but can’t yet serve beer and wine.
