John Sibert beat Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education member Kathy Wisnicki for a seat on the Malibu City Council by a margin of about two dozen votes. Wisnicki came in fourth in the city election, where three seats were up for grabs. Incumbent Pamela Conley Ulich finished first with 2,115 votes and Jefferson “Zuma Jay” Wagner second with 1,686. Susan Tellem finished fifth with 1,163 votes.
